Butchered bride-to-be from Brooklyn mourned

Vindalee Smith, who had been preparing for a ‘dream wedding’ and child birth, was found stabbed to death in her East Flatbush apartment. Vindalee Smith of Brooklyn was found dead Saturday, a day before her wedding, with a stab wound to her neck. She was also due to give birth in two weeks. The child did not survive the homicide.
Instead of celebrating a friend’s wedding Sunday, mourners wept for the pregnant Brooklyn woman found stabbed to death in her apartment a day earlier.


Two candles honor the memory of Vindalee Smith.“It was supposed to be a dream wedding for her,” Racquel Berry, 29, said of Vindalee Smith, who was found dead inside her East Flatbush basement apartment with a gushing neck wound. “She was excited.”

Police work at the scene of the fatal stabbing of Vindalee Smith at 230 E. 94th St.Cops questioned Smith’s fiancé, Anthony Jackman, but said he was not a suspect.

Racquel Berry, 29, a church friend of fatal stabbing victim Vindalee Smith, said, ‘It was supposed to be a dream wedding for her.’The couple was set to be married at New Dimension Seventh-Day Church on Winthrop St. Sunday morning. Smith, a mother of four, was due to give birth to a boy in just two weeks. The baby did not survive the homicide.

Andrew Connor, a deacon at New Dimension Seventh-Day Adventist Church at 1062 Winthrop St., where fatal stabbing victim Vindalee Smith, 38, was to be married Sunday.“I hope when they find (the killer), he gets what he deserves,” said neighbor Beverly Fraser. “The look on her face — she was happy.”

a suspect hasn't been identified yet by the police. the fiance (who is married) is being questioned by police. most people think he is the killer.

none of the reports mentioned the spouse's name or whereabout. if the wife found out of the affair, she might top the suspect list.

her sister recently cuss her and tell her seh she a put the fiance before her other children and that she (the deceased) dont even know who the (new) baby fada is

according to police the wife of the fiance lives in the state of NY/NJ and they are "estranged". they are now calling him a person of interest, he has not been forthcoming but he also has not asked for a lawyer. please.

"Jackman told detectives he last saw Smith on Thursday afternoon when he visited her apartment, the official said.

The official said it’s believed that Smith was killed some time Friday. Jackman told detectives he was in Manhattan on the day of the murder but he could offer few specifics about his whereabouts that day, the official said.
The official said a relative of Smith’s said that she said she had a doctor’s appointment on Friday and that she and Jackman would be running errands after that.
Jackman’s estranged wife told detectives that Jackman picked her up at her mother’s home in Brooklyn around 7 or 7:30 p.m. Friday and drove her to her New Jersey home, the official said. She said her estranged husband remained there overnight before leaving the next morning around 11 a.m., the official said. A phone message left at the wife’s home Monday was not returned."
