[NJ & NYC] Checking in - am OK - lost power for only 16 hours. Went to work for the first time yesterday via bus and rail - took me 3 hours door to door. At the train station I had to get on line to purchase the rail ticket (usually take the PATH -partial service restored yesterday); then get on another long line to go upstairs to the platform to get the NJ Transit commuter train to the City. Cops were manning the escalators and the stairs to ensure that the platform did not get too crowded. Eventually got on the fifth train that came by and had to stand all the way into the City - train was packed like sardines. Left work at 3:30 and walked to Penn Station - caught the 4:07 train and was home by 5:30. This morning the trains were delayed 40 minutes. I got there early [6:45 AM] as I was trying to get to work at 8:00. I did not get on a train until 7:50. I got to work at 8:33 AM. Tomorrow I will take the express bus in (maybe - Port Authority) was a mess last night. Our company has offered to pay us for 2 full days and we have up to 12/15 to make up the 3 days in hourly increments. (I already made up 1 hour today - no lunch time).

Son in Long Island and Ex still without power but they have generators. Fellow employee live in the projects near china town did not evacuate despite the fact that Bloomberg turned off the power, heat and elevators before Sandy came. Elderly family member in Far Rockaway still without power. Dem ova dey a sing the sankey "On Christ the solid Rock I stand, All other ground is sinking sand; All other ground is sinking sand". Dem ketch dem fraid bad.

Yes a me dat - what happen to me frock? Who tek off me clothes and left me naked? How can I change back to be rightful name St_Bess? Dem ole people dem still hole up inna de house but me son is taking care of them - everybody love the water view but like dem always sey the sea or river always claim its own. Me a lef work at about 4 today to take the train - train was so packed I still me ticket from yesterday morning. Hoping the PATH will resume full service soon.

Saw electric companies trucks from Indiana and Ohio here today.. Gave them coffee and said thank you.. I guess they voted already.. rest of neighborhood got lights tonight- 7 days and there are lots of people still without power.

Mandatory evacuation by 3P tomorrow for the eastern part of our township :cry:
