TRENTON, N.J. (WABC) -- New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie has signed an executive order postponing Halloween until Monday.
Christie delayed trick-or-treating on Wednesday because he says it's not safe in the wake of damage from Sandy.
The governor says children would face flooding, fallen trees downed power lines and power outages.

A state of emergency still exists in New Jersey because of the storm.Some communities were planning to go ahead with trick-or-treating on Wednesday and others have moved the even to the coming weekend. It's not clear how many will heed the governor's call to switch to Monday.

Halloween

This was the third year four neighbors joined me on my front lawn. We set up a little table and lawn chairs and we pool candy and other treats. One neighbor brings beer, another makes spiked cider. We hand out candy, they drink beer, I sip a little cider, and we all catch up with each other. Next year they are planning to buy a small chiminea so we can have a fire.

BB was in charge of handing out treats so I never have to get up every minute to go to the door

Kids carry firearms, mothers can't control their kids, there aren't too many fathers in their children's lives... most of the fathers in their kids' lives are the Latino men. Now that's a broad generalization... but it IS a general description. On MY side of town, we have two-parent families and blended families. And even so - shrug - wasn't my own foster son arrested and imprisoned for breaking into our locked gun safe with explosives, stealing the majority of my husband's and my firearms and selling (or giving?) them to his gang buddies, and he was arrested with the last several pistols still on him? So even in the best of homes, such stuff happens here.

Kids shoot at the cops here, and our cops shoot right back. (as they should)
Race or color has nothing whatsoever to do with it. Most of our cops are black.
