KINGSTON, Jamaica — Marksman Limited has fired the security guards involved in the beating of a University of Technology (UTech) student Thursday night.
The company, which provides security for the university said that, “after thorough investigation” they have terminated the contracts of the security officers.
Reports are that two male students were allegedly caught in a compromising position on the UTech compound and attacked by a mob.
One student escaped while the other was taken to a small room at the front of the school.
While in the room seeking refuge from the angry mob outside he was repeatedly slapped and kicked by two male security guards as a female guard stood at the door with a piece of board in hand.
The incident was caught on tape and posted to various social networking sites.
In a release Friday Marksman said, "the security officers acted outside the scope of their duties. The actions of the security guards are not in keeping with Marksman Limited's contractual arrangements and on-going mandate to protect and secure life and property".

This was mob action based on mass hysteria. Those same religious leaders who only last week grabbed the spotlight to lend support for archaic buggery law, should boldly step forward and condemn such mob riots and senseless violence. Let's see them come forward now!

i saw on anotehr message board that the head of security at UTECH has identified atleast two students who were in the mob.. hopefully they will be censored.. I also ntoed that it was stated that the kid who was beaten would be completing his education in Chemical Engineering overseas...Comment
