These secessionists need to go sit down and read a book or learn simple math.
Look at Pres. Obama's percentage of the popular vote compared to Bush. After 2004, Bush famously said he had earned significant political capital and had every intention of spending it. Spending is what Bush did best as he nyam off all the budget surplus, then borrow fi nyam some more.

If the red states do secede, I only hope they pay back everything they owe to the federal government and blue states in subsidies which they disproportionately receive. Talk about cognitive dissonance.
Studies show that states that elect Democrats contribute the most in federal taxes relative to what they consume in government services. Conversely, many states that elect Republicans contribute the least in taxes relative to the services they consume. This is true even though many Democratic states contain large, poor, urban populations of color.

WHO ARE THEY? The usual suspects? The people that are consuming in both red and blue states are the same people that would rather live off government services than take care of themselves. Whether Republican or Democratic controlled, all states have their parasites...and I'm not talking about the old and sick that need help, but the usual suspects that are those that simply want a free ride. Federal programs are at fault of why money is handed out, and subsequently beyond state control. Boundaries of political control does not mean that there is a physical wall(blue/red) separating same from the lazy and the shiftless and the federal programs that sustain their lifestyle.Studies show that states that elect Democrats contribute the most in federal taxes relative to what they consume in government services. ...and here is something for you to ponder.
"according to a paper that will be presented Aug. 7 at the annual meeting of the American Accounting Association in Washington, D.C. The study, which was led by researchers at the University of Arizona, finds that companies helmed by executives who lean Republican each pay an average of $12 million more in annual taxes than companies headed by Democratic-leaning managers. With a mean pretax income of $541 million for companies in the sample, the difference results in an extra 2.22 percent in taxes paid."

Rich, why are you making it a white and black issue, because as we all know the majority of people on services are white folks...and I believe a man should follow through with his own ideas, so why don't you give us the stats, and explain why is it relevant to the topic...It may or may not be interesting.Originally posted by RichD View Postdave, maybe you can find a study telling us how much more taxes companies head by white executives pay than those headed by black executives.

My response still has a focus on the Democrats and Republicans and taxes paid. Your idea replaces political party affiliation with skin color...so, please, spin this into relevance. I could use a good chuckle this morning.Originally posted by RichD View Postits as relevant as the stat about republican leaning companies paying more taxes
