Controversial Casting of Zoe Saldana as Nina Simone - Do you agree?

Mi tink di darkness helped, but it remains tuh bi seen if dem can capture dat rawness of di "legendary Nina".

They put something on her nose too. I still don't like Zoe Saldana for the role though and think the producers could have found a darker skinned actress who is closer to the "essence" of Ms. Simone.

I would have preferred someone like Anika Noni Rose as Simone.





This business reminds me of Angeline Jolie donning a wig and makeup to play Marianne Pearl. Troy Beyer would have been a better (physical) match.



Disclaimer: Pearl did ask Jolie to take the role. As producer of the film, Jolie should have said no and put Pearl's story and a little-known actress of color in the spotlight (as there are so few roles out there...)
