The separation was created because they were enslaved and their language taken away. I personally think it would be good to have cultural centers that taught about commonality about africans in the diaspora but attempts at such have not yet been very successful.

I like Barrett as a rule but he has this completely backwards. You don't find African Americans denying they are Black but you do find a lot of that type of denial among Jamaicans.
