The Speaker of the Ugandan Parliament Rebecca Kadaga, has promised that the anti-homosexual bill will become law by by years end and that it's her Christmas gift to the Ugandan people.

From what I gather: the bill wanted the death penalty for homosexuals who had AIDS/HIV, if they, as an authority figure got the 'victim' drunk or drugged and then took sexual advantage of them.

The bill has since been modified and the death penalty is now off the table, but a long prison term will definitely be the outcome if convicted.

If you are in a same sex relationship outside of Uganda, you could be extradited so that you can be locked up in Uganda. I really can't see any country granting extradition for that though...

is there a similar law for heterosexual people?

There is a law in some states in the US about knowingly infecting others with HIV so maybe Uganda a catch up but just a target one group of people?

I think the AIDS component is just a 'small' part of the bill. The Uganda proponents of this bill seem to think that AIDS is an inevitable by product of homosexuality. But they're not just focusing on folk who knowingly or unknowingly spread the disease. They are targeting anyone who is homosexual.

So you could be the healthiest person with no paedophilic inclinations (cause it seems to me that they're getting paedophilia and homosexuality mixed up), and you would still be charged and incarcerated... for up to 14 years...
