And so the DSK saga ends. Today disgraced Frenchman Dominique Strauss-Kahn came to a settlement agreement with Nafissatou Diallo, the hotel maid who accused him of sexual assault last year. The terms of the settlement were not made public. "I thank everyone all over the world and everyone at the court," Diallo told reporters after the settlement was announced. "God bless you all."
Last May, Diallo told detectives that DSK had sexually assaulted her in his hotel room, setting off a house arrest media circus, some vile tabloid journalism, the public outing of DSK's accuser, the derailment of his political career, more charges etc., etc. Also, of course, a Law & Order:SVU episode.
After questions about Diallo's charges began to add up, the Manhattan DA dropped the criminal case against DSK in August 2011. But the civil suit remained, until today. Since last summer DSK has admitted to consensual sex with Diallo, "though in a French television interview after the criminal case was dismissed, he acknowledged that the encounter was 'an error' and 'a moral failure' that he would forever regret." He was not at court today.

What a dawg-a-saurus and ugly to boot. He needs to lay off the Viagra.
One of the lawyers, William Taylor, hoped to sign an agreement to end the lawsuit in a few days, a spokeswoman said. Mr Taylor and Amit Mehta, attorneys with Zuckerman Spaeder LLP in Washington, said in a statement the two sides had "discussed a resolution but there has been no settlement".Le Monde reported that to finance the out-of-court deal, Mr Strauss-Kahn would take out a $3 million bank loan and borrow the rest from his estranged wife, Anne Sinclair.
Ms Sinclair, an American journalist and millionaire, stood by her husband throughout the scandal and provided his bail surety after his arrest, but the pair finally separated this summer and now live on opposite sides of Paris.
The settlement with Ms Diallo is reportedly due to be confirmed before a New York judge next week but sources close to the case warned that the deal could still fall apart.
The Frenchman's legal difficulties will not end when a settlement is finalised, as he is yet to hear whether a French court plans to press ahead with charges of "aggravated pimping".
Prosecutors allege that he was involved in a prostitution ring run out of a luxury hotel in Lille. He denies the charges.
