A gun by itself does not kill. It is a tool. I'll be happy to continue the discussion in another thread to keep this one on topic.Originally posted by Rollin_Calf View PostSo what is it that they do ?
And before you advance the "deterrent" argument, if they don't kill why are they a "deterrent" ?

To be honest, Tropicana, I never had a lesson on the US constitution. I had to memorize the 50 states and their capitals, the Gettysburg Address, the national anthem, the pledge of allegiance, etc., but we never covered the Constitution at any level of my education. Go figure.Originally posted by Tropicana View PostSo I still don't have an answer. How many amendments are there to the US constitution and identify the significance of the first 6? Remember no cheating. Go by memory. My impression was that this was all provided with each dose of the Kool-aid and I want to make sure that this is true.

Mi nevah did know tse onoo just as dunce as de people dem a Canada bout civics, Government and history.

And that ^ is exactly the problem with the education the most American kids get, these days.Originally posted by Blackstar* View PostTo be honest, Tropicana, I never had a lesson on the US constitution. That's no slam on you, Blackstar; it's a slam on American schools and education system.W
When this old girl went to school (with our hornbooks -
), we actually learned such things as what it says in the Constitution of the United States of America... and the Constitution of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania (I grew up in Philadelphia)... and the Declaration of Independence... and how our government actually works, how our elected officials are actually elected, etc. I don't think that they don't bother to teach any of that any more.
Nah. They just line up the kids outside the nurse's office, stick 'em, and send 'em back to their classrooms. Just like that. They don't explain anything to the kids. lolOriginally posted by Tropicana View PostReally? WOW!
