Walmart Bails On Obamacare-Sticks Taxpayers With Employee Healthcare Costs

While Walmart was very clever in appearing to be responsible corporate citizens while really backing a law that would allow the American people to subsidize their already enormous profits, what nobody contemplated back in 2009 was the ruling of the United States Supreme Court that limits the Medicaid expansion to only those states electing to participate.
As a result, Walmart employees who will either lose their health care coverage or never qualify in the first place—thanks to the company’s messing with their work schedules—and live in states that have decided to reject the Medicaid expansion, will find themselves without any help whatsoever when it comes to accessing health care for their families.

that is the case. Walmart hires p/t workers with just enough hours to be under the requirement to receive benefits from Walmart.
Walmart pays it workers just enough so they can only be able to shop at Walmart

WalMart posted profits of $15.4 billion in 2011, and it enriched 6 WalMart heirs and heiresses whose combined worth is greater than the bottom 41% of American families (48.8 million households). Part of WalMart’s profits come from paying employees below poverty level wages, and to keep WalMart associates from going hungry and falling ill, taxpayers provided food stamps and Medicaid to make up the difference.

With the current poverty level for a family of four at $23,050, the typical WalMart employee is paid $22,100 a year, and because associates get a 10% discount to buy WalMart products, they are investing their below poverty pay checks back into the company that reported a 9% percent increase in third-quarter net income, earning $3.63 billion.

If they opt to not live in the dorms, they are still charged for the space. On one of the talk shows about it, 2 married Walmart employees have a total joint income of only $23,000/yr. They have 2 children, so 4 people living on poverty wages, with both parents employed. I have never spent a dime in Walmart and never will.

Ok, I can understand your well meaning point, but let's just say we all stop shopping at Walmart...what happens to those 2 Walmart employees, and their children. They were making $23,000 a yr, but now they make nothing. If there were better jobs available, they surely would be employed elsewhere...It's like the Jamaican all-inclusive hotels. I had a converstaion with someone that was appalled after finding out how much employees were paid and the long hours that they worked. They said they would not vacation and support such a business...and, I said, What happens to these people when these hotels dissapear?

Ok, let's just say this is the case. Why was Obama and the Democrats so stupid to allow this loophole in Obama care?...I mean really?!? This isn't rocket science to figure out that ALL of these corporations would find a way out of paying for peoples healthcare...this is nothing more than stupidity, or is it? I say both sides are complicit, or if the Democrats are really this stupid, WE ARE ALL IN FOR FOUR MORE YEARS OF INCOMPETENCY?

maybe the loophole was left intentionally to move the agenda in a specific direction. If more and more companies go the route off letting the gov pay for health insurance it will be much easier to sell the idea that private sector left to their own device will not act responsibly so we need to enact rules that force them to do so.
