Whitney near 1 Yr Later - her brother

I couldn't sleep last night.

Around 2am I caught a rerun of one of Oprah's shows from Sunday night. It was an interview with Cissy Houston – she has the new book out. Oh brother …

Anyway I watched it. It was VERY sad.

There was actually, nothing NEW in the interview at all – nothing at all. The thing that DID surprise me, was how open the mother was about some things and finally the admission / confirmation (after DECADES, literally decades of chatter in the wind) by her not often seen brother, Gary – that HE was the one who literally, introduced her to drugs.

This was always common knowledge but always, always VERY under the table. Many people didn't even know that Whitney had 2 brothers. Many people didn't know that Cissy Houston had been married to husband #1 (that marriage produced Gary) and then later married husband #2 (that union produced Michael and Whitney).

It was painful to watch Michael because tho he's been clean since Oct 2012 he says, it's clear that he's still struggling with those demons. U can see it in his face – up above here … sad to hear him say "I'm living, but I'm not alive"

If this saga isn't a cautionary tale that speaks to drugs and fame, I don't know what is.

Very sad.

Whitney's talent was wasted – that woman's voice was like a bell. Gone too soon – and for what – over what? Drugs and crap.

1. that is the brother introduce her to drugs

and

2. that the mother outed her by saying that if she was gay, she didn't know because she didn't want to know.



She simply says she doesn’t know. Because she doesn’t want to know. For if she did know, she’d have had to reject her daughter.Cissy anticipates this subject — it’s in her book, after all — but she cannot hide her decades-long disgust. “I didn’t particularly like [Robyn],” she tells Oprah. “She just spoke too much, disrespectful sometimes, like she had something over Nippy (Whitney’s nickname), and I didn’t like that at all. She was all right, she turned out to be all right, I guess. That was her friend.”

Oprah's network isn't public or popular enough for that to happen.

Hi Gen -

If u get a chance to catch it, take a look at the whole thing. As I said, there's not one single thing in the interview that was breaking news - nothing new to most people.

But in a weird way that I can't explain, it was riveting. The pain that the mother has and is going thru was / is something so strong you can almost reach out and touch it. So horrible. Losing a child - never an easy thing I can only imagine. And it's GOT to be devastating to see that Whitney's renk mash moat daughter, is - by all appearances - making all sorts of wrong choices as well!

However, I'd disagree with the thought that Cissy "outed" Whitney. I don't think she did that at ALL in the interview. And I don't think she really does that in the book either. It's just that Cissy is old school and didn't like Robin because she was gay. She outright said so.

I loved her response when Oprah asked her: "Would it have bothered you if Whitney way gay?"

Cissy is old, old school. She's no joke. Her answer, and the way she answered, was kinda funny. (no pun intended)

In fact, she says that's why she and BobbiChristina aren't close, or getting along, etc. Because the daughter thinks "she's grown and knows everything". Cissy said she doesn't take any crap and the granddaughter doesn't like that so she doesn't want to be around Cissy.

That poor brother Michael. He looks like he's just inches away from the grave. VEry sad.
