Rocker Richard Marx has taken aim at TV doctor Drew Pinsky for failing to help his former patient, embattled singer Mindy McCready, following her apparent suicide on Sunday.

The deeply troubled country musician became the fifth of Dr. Drew's Celebrity Rehab clients to die after appearing on the show to battle substance abuse issues, and Marx is convinced their TV treatment did nothing to actually help the tragic stars.

The singer/songwriter lashed out at Pinsky via Twitter.com after hearing the news of McCready's death, comparing the medic to controversial assisted suicide advocate Jack Kevorkian, also known as Dr. Death, who was known for his work helping terminally ill patients.

In a furious post, Marx wrote, "I think 'Dr.' Drew Pinsky should change his name to Kevorkian. Same results."

He later backtracked on his harsh remark and deleted the message, although he still stands by his conclusion that Celebrity Rehab does more damage than good for stars seeking real help for their personal problems.

Returning to his Twitter page on Monday, he wrote, "I went too far with the Kevorkian crack (joke). It is, however, my opinion that what Dr. D does is exploitation and his TV track record is not good. My heart goes out to the families who suffer most in the wake of the failure to save souls like Mindy McCready."

apparently she tried five or six time or sitt'n such. she also shot her dog. which is inexcusable.

not making light of it or anything. but if you've ever grown up with dogs or had dogs they kinda connect with you in this weird way. you know if you let them loose with 12 of their kind it's a lottery win/lose situation --- then their eyes turn different. but just you and them -- you're the leader of the pack.

you just don't shoot a dog like that. i can imagine the dog feeling her pain and whimpering-- or simpering -- they do feel you. you can tell by the look in their eyes (until they're in a pack -- then then they may, just may tear awff yur eyetapp becoz they're embolden --- --- just don't look at them too long --- they take it as a challenge

--- a cat would be running out, hailing a taxi to get you more ammo (on your credit). don't kill any animal --- just becoz. Ttake yourself out --- don't hurt your children, other people <--- or animals. that dog prolly would be sitting by the front door waiting on her.

I *think* she shot the dog because she was "taking him with her", and didn't want to worry about what would happen to him after she was gone. I don't think it was out of cruelty.

ETA: not saying that she was justified, and shoulda shoot the dog, but she wasn't in her right mind etc etc

reports are of 3 dogs, only 1 shot. the one that she and her bf owned or belonged to the bf

speculation is that if the 2 children were there with her, she might have taken them along

Not everybody will have the same results and sorry if 5 ppl commit suicide who did what ever program the Dr have does not mean is not a workable program or them wouldnt kill themself any way. I dont know anything about the program so I just speaking in general terms. Look how many ppl quit drinking and smoking and sometimes with the right influence they go right back to it and even worst at some point. And any body who kill them pickney or pet thinking them saving them from whatever

Twiney that celebrity rehab show Dr Drew has is a travesty and should be cancelled. these people need real professional help not scripted reality to entertain the masses. Dr's Drew and Phil need to stick to entertainment not actual people who need professional help.
