CHRW kicked off February with a broadcast of the opening ceremonies of Black History Month live from the Mustang Lounge in the University Community Centre at Western University and by promoting local events all month long.
On Tuesday February 26, starting at midnight, 94.9 CHRW will begin broadcasting 24-hours of original programming created to celebrate Black History. This, our fifth year of 24-hour programming dedicated to Black Culture, is marked by a rebranding from Black Talk, Black Tune to All Black Everything.
Organizations that will be participating include Western’s Black Students Association and The African Canadian Federation of London and Area. In addition, special guest Marci Ien from Canada AM will speak on passion for education, female empowerment, and journalism with young professionals. Music shows throughout the day will focus on all eras from Jazz to R&B, and from Funk to Hip-Hop and more.
CHRW Program Director, Adulis Mokanan says “You can expect a variety of topics and music from all eras that influence us today. I’m hoping listeners will discover something new and what they hear will encourage them to join CHRW to create their own programming. We’re open to all Londoners, students and non-students alike, and the programming you will hear on Tuesday is made by people in our
community.”
