Yes someone in the Bahamas could likely have significant interaction with Haitians, depending of course on where they are concentrated.

However, we were not discussing the Bahamas, we were discussing Brooklyn.....clearly I can't take your figures at face value. You stated:

Brooklyn the 2010 US Census said Brooklyn's population was 2,504,700 people, which is 30.6% of the population of New York City. So, even if I take your figures at face value this is just a drop in the bucket compared with the total population of New York City.

It is a obvious as the nose on one's face that the Haitian presences is much stronger in Montreal than in NYC. One can't go out in Montreal without constantly running into Haitians. That is not the case in NYC.

Caribbean peoples tend to live in the same area of brooklyn therefore the chances of interacting with a Haitian in Brooklyn is quite high. Flatbush , East Flatbush, Bushwick, etc.. They take the same trains in & out soo yes the interactions are just as high if not higher than montreal
