Indirectly, this thread makes me think of something I saw some time ago ...

About 3 years back I went home and was driving from Runaway Bay into Ochie.

Coming out of St Ann's Bay, before you tunn up to go Steer Town on the right, I was shocked - SHOCKED - to look up and see a sign for an IRISH restaurant.

I think the name is "Irish Rover" or something like that.

I asked someone about it and was told it was opened by a fellow who came back home after many years in Ireland and opened it.

I cant even fully detail the things that went thru my head when I heard this - not the least of which was that this was the craziest idea or theme for an eatery in JA that I've ever heard of.

Anyway - I dont think it lasted 2 years.

Is it just me? Is an Irish Themed Eatery the best concept business to open in JA?

I think it is abrilliantly original idea.... as a man who has frequented Irish Pubs from La Coruna to KL....

They even got the yellowed clock right!!!! pity it shut down...

I was in one on Wednesday night in Stavanger Norway!!!! for the last couple months it was where are the crowds go to watch the 6 nations rugby....My favorite was the Irishman on the Faroes Islands...

I think there is one in Barbados....! Location I agree Rich....

I'd be so curious to know why it shuttered but I have to think the concept was a part of the reason.

it was on main street
walking distance to several hotels
with a diff name,
and similar business model to "senor frogs"

assuming lack of revenue was the reason why it closed and not a personal issue etc.

After reading everyones thoughts I feel a sense of sadness of the reality of Jamaica. As an outsider looking in, I've gained a little inside knowledge that I would not have attained if it was not for this sight and those sharing their personal thoughts...and for that, I say thank you.
