Seems like Rihanna got her wish to feel like she was the Only Girl In The World Saturday night.
At least, that’s the way it felt to some of the 13,500 people the Barbadian beauty kept waiting for more than an hour and a half at the Scotiabank Saddledome.
The R&B pop superstar, who’s been spotted partying in local bars and a Calgary strip club recently, was meant to take the stage about 9 p.m. Saturday, but didn’t grace fans with her presence until closer to 11 p.m.
“She had no respect for the fans,” said Sal Rena, who went to the show with her husband and 16-year-old niece with tickets that cost $110 each.
“We had people sitting to the left of us that left before (Rihanna) even got there and people to the right of us that left halfway through. “I saw a lot of people ask for their money back.
“I would never spend money to go see her again.”
A spectacular performance would have made up for the wait, but though extremely talented, Rihanna appeared to lip-synch parts of the show, said Rena, who added she’ll be contacting Ticketmaster about its refund policy.
There was, however, a large part of the crowd that seemed to love the show, including her niece, said Rena. “She thought it was exceptionally awesome, but she didn’t have to pay the money for the tickets,” she said.
