That’s when her neighbor came to the door and told her to restrain her dog. When she failed to do so, the man said “I’m going to handle him myself.”And he did.The anonymous man, who holds a valid concealed pistol license, dirtnapped “Jojo” as the bug-eyed wonder came charging at him.Police spoke to the man, and concluded he was within his rights to shoot the dog because he felt threatened.But Detroit Dog Rescue disagrees. They concede the girl broke the law by allowing her dog to run free, but also believe the man used poor judgment in shooting the dog. And they question whether he actually felt threatened by a dog that weighed less than 6 lbs., or if he merely felt annoyed by it.“This was a little Chihuahua; he shot a Taco Bell dog. At what point could it have aggressed [sic] in such a way that you felt you had to go out and shoot it?” asked David Rudolph of Detroit Dog Rescue.Detroit Dog Rescue said the girl has been traumatized by losing her dog in such a violent manner. They also paid to have “Jojo” cremated.The outcome of this story is in stark contrast to the one yesterday, in which a Cincinnati man was arrested for shooting a pit bull that attacked his dog. He was charged with two misdemeanors, and this man got off scot-free.
