In the Olive Lewin thread, I mentionned that she did a workshop for a place I worked in Jamaica and brought an obeahwoman.
In Jamaica, some people just go to the hospital to get required medical documents and certificates. On the way home, they dash way the pills given to them at the pharmacy and get their primary care from spiritual healers. I know in Africa what we call obeahman and the spiritual leader are different people. In Jamaica, I am not sure..I think it's sometimes blurred. The ones who have the lion statues and flags at their gates are those the obeahmen? What is the difference between that and a balmyard. Realized I should start another thread for this.
