Prominent businessman robbed, beaten downtown Kingston

KINGSTON, Jamaica - Business operators in downtown Kingston are urging the police to carry out speedy investigations into this morning’s incident where a business operator was robbed at gun point.
Reports are that the victim, said to be a brother of Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller, was at his place of business early Thursday morning when men entered the premises and attacked him
He was beaten by the men who escaped with an undetermined sum of money.
"Police need to step up their presence in the area this behaviour from criminals is unacceptable," one angry business operator fumed.
The businessman, who out of fear asked not to be named, was supported by several other people who said the occurence has left them concerned.
