So one of my friends said. From the report, it looks like the abuse is on such a large scale, IMO it cannot be managed.

those stories are shocking and heartbreaking but still anecdotal. i would be interested in seeing some numbers that would quantify the level of abuse before supporting an all out ban.

Without looking at the article I can hedge to say the rise in abuse correlates to the 'orphan ministry' where christian groups (white) adopt internationally to spread God's word. If they are adopting transracially, then u know there are additional issues.

Russia does not play though.. When there is a case of abuse of a Russian adoptee (Russian children are still citizens of Russia post adoption until they are 18 years old and then they can choose if they want to keep their Russian citizenship), all adoptions to the country are stopped, the child may be brought back to Russia until the case is fully investigated.

That's the thing though, one of the persons interviewed said the overwhelming majority of foreign adoptions take place under false pretenses, so the story of the Ethiopian miss is actually typical rather than anecdotal. The interviewee didn't present any data unfortunately, but it could be hard to come by as who is going to admit to this misbehavior.

BTW, this is reminding me of the Zoe's Ark story I posted on here a year or so ago. If I find it, I'll post the link.
