Personally I think it is just the classic response of an alcoholic and drug adict when confronted about their actions.

well, according to Gawker, the mayor said this at a press conference this morning:

the shunning begins. councillors turn their backs on the mayor as he speaks. i actually teared up a bit. ah boy. he really should just step away.

sue, this man has no one he can trust. that's the ONLY reason i can believe he's not quitting or taking a break. stepping away is the RIGHT thing to do, and there's no one close to this man, who he really believes in and can rely on, to let him know that it is sooo much better for him to take a break. he is truly alone, and he does not have the judgment or common sense to do things on his own.
