I didn't make a judgment on the Teachers going to Africa to help black (presumably brown, white and pink), youths.
I made a judgment of the Prime Minister of promises......I think she will just promise and forget.
And the JTA who will complain in public, but in private look to scurry up as many warm bodies as they can find, to bundle up and ship out.

The issue with science and Maths teachers is that to be qualified they have to have in addition to teaching qualification a science qualification. That makes them very, very employable any where on the planet!

There is an excess of teachers in Jamaica but tehre is a shortage of these specialities..But there is an over supply of guidance counsoliors. There is also a quality issue on those who train to be teachers as well as a gender imbalance that is not unique to Jamaica. It is a comment that Ruel Reid past president of JTA keeps harping back to.

The excess of teachers is evident as one suggestion made earlier thsi year is that older teachers retire. But the counter argument was that this would leade to the loss of very good teachers. I beleive there is a 8000 qualified teachers who are unemployed; but htere are alsmot literally at every school a shortage of science and maths specialists..(and few people trained in teaching to special needs) With many newer higher schools without a single science specialists

We could as Tuffy suggest send a few newly qualified students to Africa.. but then there is a question of language and culture when they get ot Tanzania! As per Blu descriptions..
