I do not think it is Racist but it is Racial. Now it could be construed as Racist as some may say its implying that being a big brother to a black child is an unusual hard task....Or that blacks are threatening.Originally posted by Tropicana View PostLast edited by franksterr; 06-03-2013, 08:30 AM.

A kid wants to play chess with an older person....
between the age of 11 and 17 I never played a game of chess on account I did not know a single person who plays....
As Andre 3000 said in a film. "The only way to get better at this game is to play some one better "
How is it racial ?
would it have been racial if the kid was non african ie an Anglo ?

don't see anything racist about it...it's unfortunate that the American "founding fathers" were so short-sighted as not to be able to foresee that this racial psychosis they founded the country on would have far-reaching effects...America can't see a black man without it being racial---it's a mental illness that afflicts the nation but the patient has never admitted the problem

Racial in this context means it seems to be directed to a specific race.......The Black(African) Race.Originally posted by Wahalla View PostY ????

I learned to play at around age 12 or 13. I am actually the one who taught my ex-husband to play chess. I figured that I would teach our son to play at age 12 or so as that is when I learned. It is a good thing children have 2 parents.
When he was 3, his dad made up little games for him to teach him how the various chess pieces moved. I can't remember when he first played his first full game of chess but it was before age 5. I remember buying him Searching for Bobby Fisher when it came out on video.
I can't remember how old he was when he first beat me. It's been years since I have been able to beat him. He competed in many tournaments in elementary and high school and won many trophies. There were chlidren of all races at these tournaments. He even was area champ a couple of times. I have possession of all of his chess and athletics trophies at the moment. Keep meaning to buy a case for them. It may have to stay as a gift when he gets his first apartment on his own.
So Black children definitely play chess.
Great questions. It will be interesting to see the answers.

No mystery there.....Racial means - pertaining to race. Without a doubt the primary focus of that commercial was/is blacks.Originally posted by Tropicana View PostWell as the mother of a boy who has nuff chess trophies. I agree.
