The daughter who spoke to the Observer, angrily rejected allegations that family members had been involved in demonism and spiritualism of any form.

Her constant puzzled refrain was "we want to know what cause this?" She asked this reporter: "In all your experience, you have any idea what could cause this?" She got no answers.
She confirmed that her 70-year-old mother had been taken to the doctor. "She suffering from diabetes and high blood pressure, and all this is too much," she said.
The daughter said that after initially dismissing reports that "duppies" (ghosts) were involved, she changed her opinion weeks ago, when she saw a window on fire with no obvious source. "Mi see it fi myself," she said.

I told my Mom about this story and she told me about a shopkeeper when she was a little girl who was gathering up the stones in a pile so that they would not be thrown again. While he was in the middle of this, one big rockstone did lick im inna im 'ead.

Okla. puzzle: Possible death by spontaneous combustion

Oklahoma authorities say it may be two months before they determine whether a 65-year-old man's mysterious death was the result of spontaneous combustion or some other cause.
Family members said they found the burned remains of 65-year-old Danny VanZandt on Monday morning in his home near Muldrow, in eastern Oklahoma, near the Arkansas border. His body was incinerated except for his head, hands and feet.
The only structural damage was to the kitchen floor where VanZandt lay, said Sequoyah County Sheriff Ron Lockhart.
"This house is intact. There is a stove and ice box within 3 feet from where the body's burning and the handles are not melted," he toldThe Tulsa World. "You could pour gasoline on somebody and he wouldn't be as badly incinerated."
Homicide has been ruled out because there was no evidence of foul play.
VanZandt was an alcoholic and a smoker, the sheriff told KFSM-TV. A lighter was found nearby, but there was no evidence of any accelerant on the body.
VanZandt may have burned for 10 hours, Lockart said.
"We wasn't saying the guy just busted into flames," he told KFSM. He said perhaps VanZandt lighted a cigarette "and catches himself on fire, sucks the flames down his throat, and falls down."
Burn marks were found in his windpipe, indicating he inhaled smoke and carbon monoxide.
Lockart, a former arson investigator, said the way the body burned was inconsistent with a lighted cigarette being dropped.
"This is a case that I've never seen before," Lockhart said. "I think there's only about 200 cases worldwide and I'm not saying that this has happened, I'm just saying that we haven't ruled it out."
The state medical examiner is conducting additional toxicology tests.

Spontaneous human combustion is a rare and controversial phenomenon. In September 2011, a coroner in Ireland ruled that a 76-year-old man's death in December 2010 was the result of spontaneous human combustion.

Ghosts' set Kuwaiti house on fire



Like in horror movies, strange fires keep erupting at a home in Kuwait dead on time and its owner was told by Muslim scholars the house is haunted.Mansour Al Ajami and his family still live in the house in Ahmadi area in Kuwait City although it has suffered from over 40 fire incidents since they moved into it six years ago. But he appears to have had enough as he thinks of leaving.
Ajami, interviewed by Alanba Arabic language daily, said fires erupt exactly at five in the evening and the morning every few weeks and although civil defence units have managed to put them out, they have no idea what caused them.
What adds to these macabre scenes is that the fires began in May, the fifth month in the year, Ajami said.
“After I moved into the house, a fire erupted in May which is number five…eversince, all the fires have occurred at either five in the morning or five in the evening…I had to seek religious help so I invited a well-known Saudi sheikh (Moslem scholar), who told me the house is haunted,” Ajami said.
“The sheikh said the house is haunted by good and harmless jinn (spirits) but that they seem to have been disturbed by the human presence.”
Ajami said he did not know the reasons for the mysterious fires, which target furniture, cooling systems and other household items. “The other day, I bought school bags for my children and the next day they were on fire.”
Ajami joked about the fact that he had become well known to the fire fighters, adding that he only had to mention his name when reporting a fire. “They have memorized my address because they have been here many times.”
He said that two weeks after his family moved into the house, they started to hear children crying and woman groaning at night.
“Some fires did not need our intervention as they just suddenly died down….fires have occurred in most parts of the house except one room, which is located on the ground floor…we now sleep in that room for safety,” he said.
“After all these mysterious incidents, I am now seriously considering moving out….I appeal for the authorities to find me a house that will shelter my family.”

Ibrahim says (in his forties) while he is referring to the pile of ashes resulted of fires on the house which is inhabited by more than 15 persons: "Our house in just three weeks was an target to more than 15 fire accidents that destroyed the 6 bags of hay and it flared 7 times inside the rooms and the crop of plants burnt twice and the strangest thing is that when we extinguish the fire , there was another fire broke out near it".


Ibrahim adds while he rubbing his forehead with his right hand fingers, expressing his astonishment at this phenomenon: "Because of the successive of fires we became to live in constant fear as we sleep and wake up with our hands on hearts fearing of a new outbreak of fire somewhere in the house".

SANTA CRUZ, St Elizabeth -- The Junction Fire Department have confirmed that yesterday (Thursday) fire personnel responded to a fire at an unfinished house close to the so-called haunted house that was gutted on June 5.
A fireman told the Observer by telephone that he and his colleagues responded to a fire call from Rose Hall, south east St Elizabeth at about midday, Thursday. He said that on arrival the fire team found ‘smouldering’ and ‘blackened” items including the frame of a bed, bedding and sheets outside the house. He said he also saw evidence of a broken window.

The fireman said occupants of the house appeared to be among those who lived at the neighbouring house which was destroyed by fire last week.
A distraught family member who telephoned the Observer late Thursday said the latest fire followed the same pattern of others which had tormented her and her relatives since April, culminating in last week’s destruction of their house.
She claimed they had moved into the unfinished house next door and occupied one room and a bathroom following last week’s catastrophic fire. She claimed that close to midday, Thursday, occupants heard a window "break" and then saw fire consuming items including bedding and furniture.
Householders used water from their rainwater catchment tank to put out the blaze and then threw the damaged items on the “outside”.
The woman who insists she does not want to be named in the media, said family members were at their wit’s end, and simply wanted their recent experiences to stop.
“We need help,” she told the Jamaica Observer. “We need somebody to come and tell us a wha a gwaan and try put a stop to it… we can’t live like this…,” she said. She claimed family members had also received death threats by telephone.
Since April 20, family members and neighbours have reported strange happenings at the house which was eventually destroyed. They speak of unexplained “stoning” of householders and mysterious fires which damaged furniture, bedding and settee chairs prior to last week’s major disaster. Family members and residents say they believe the family is being “terrorised” by “duppies” (ghosts) at the behest of others who mean the family harm.
The Junction police who are investigating the destruction of the house have sent samples to the Forensic Laboratory in Kingston to help determine the cause of the fire.
Member of Parliament for South East St Elizabeth, Richard Parchment says arrangements are being made to provide emergency housing for the displaced family.
