Whites were integral to the Civil Rights Movement, so it foolish to think that a pure Caucasian should not/could not be offended by race-based negative remarks.
Also Ms. Deen and her brother were not only accused of making adverse comments about Blacks, but Jews and Gays and also running Porn on the workplace computer. So it was every kind of harassment, if all the complaints are proven.
