| CHAD BRYAN & SHELDON WILLIAMS, STAR Writers There was sheer excitement inside the Coronation Market last Thursday with flashing lights characteristic of paparazzi taking pictures of a celebrity, after a woman appeared to be shopping in the nude. THE STAR was told the spectacle drew several onlookers who huddled around to feast their eyes and snap pictures with their cell phones of the eye-catching exposure. "She looked sane to me, was just a ho. She was bleach brown and looked to be in her 30s. She was wearing a wig and was walking and looking at things," a passer-by said. A regular male shopper who claimed to have witnessed the incident commented, "While I was shopping in the market, I saw a woman in the nude. A lot of people were taking pictures with their phones." regular practice Vendors interviewed were uncertain who the woman was but claimed that it is regular practice for some female shoppers to be scantily dressed that sometimes it is hard to determine if they are clothed. "Sometimes, mi say mi ago put up bib for the woman dem. Some of the women come here in the market with little clothes on. The woman can't even bend down to take up anything," a female vendor joked. They expressed concern that there is no regulated mode of dress for visitors to the market as it is a public space open 24/7 except on Sundays. Vendors also complained of sporadic robberies that have been taking place in the market. THE STAR was unable to put the issue to Mayor of Kingston, Angela Brown Burke, as calls to her cell phone went unanswered. Meanwhile, The Darling Street police said they have no reports of the incident but explained that such exposure is unlawful and could attract a charge of public indecency. |
