GO Transit offers riders on flood-stranded Richmond Hill train $100 credit
The unusual refund will go to passengers who waited as long as seven hours to escape a water-filled train Monday night.
Money talks, and GO Transit is saying “sorry” with $100 each for the riders who were stranded on the stalledRichmond Hill train whose lower section was flooded during Monday’s storm.
About 1,500 riders will receive a $100 credit on their Presto fare card or, if they were travelling on paper tickets, will have a couple of weeks to redeem them for a Presto card worth $100.
The money is meant to compensate passengers for dry cleaning or out-of-pocket expenses associated with the incident, in which many were forced to climb out the windows of the train into police dinghies that ferried them to dry ground. It was after midnight before everyone was off the train, which left Union Station around 5:30 p.m.
The credit is a substantial increase from the regular GO guarantee, which offers riders a refund on their trip if their train is more than 15 minutes late of scheduled arrival.
It is an exceptional gesture for an unprecedented circumstance, said Mary Proc, GO vice-president for customer service.
“That was a night of firsts for us: The first time we had a month of rain in one night; the first time that any customer had to wait seven hours to be moved off a train, and the first time we deployed boats to take our customers off a train,” she said.GO crews and officials handled the unprecedented situation as best they could, given that the storm washed out roads, closed airports and shut down the subway. But there will be a post-mortem to look at the response, she said.
The idea of keeping snacks and bottled water on trains for such emergencies has been discussed, said Proc. But because of the numbers — a crammed GO train can carry up to 1,900 people — it would require taking out seats, something the transit agency prefers not to do.

I am not rough on men. What ever gave you THAT impression?Originally posted by j-kid View PostMi would haff tun round an divorce yuh right afta di honeymoon, as soon as wi got married, caa yuh too rough pan man.

As long as a man doesn't rooks around, refuse to work, lounge about in marina, smoke ganja, drink too much liquor, watch porn, ogle other women, stay out late and mi noh know where dem is, stay out late playing "dominoes" and as long as they celebrate Christmas, Valentine's Day, Mother's Day, birthdays, and anniversaries and take me out for tea an bring flowers a few times a year, we should have no issues whatsoever.
If you can't meet the above requirements, I am agreeable to getting married, skipping the honeymoon and the rooksin, letting you completely fix my car and then divorcing you.
Does that work for you?
