Many, many years ago (20+ years ago) I worked as a driving instructor, teaching drivers ed at a high school. I have kept my instructor's license all these years later for no other reason than it is only $15 per year to renew it.

For the first time the government says they want me to provide a police backround check with my next renewal application which is to include me getting finger printed.

I'm not against supplying a police background check but I don't think they have the right to ask me for my finger prints do they?

Why not? People in many professions have to do it. When I was a flight attendant I was finger printed. They also took a description of all of my facial markings so that if there was ever a crash, they could identify my body parts.

I have commited no crime, why do the police need my fingerprints? I jus feel like I'm giving up some of my freedoms, and for what? I would rather just let my license expire. And why now, after more than twenty years of never needing my fingerprints in the past?

Not sure why they need it for driving instructors. It makes perfect sense to me for airline crew.

It is not nahmal. When I worked for GD I had to go through the police background check as well due to working with highly classidified gov military vehicles. But dem neh guh chroo any fingah print foolishness. The only reason dem should want dat is if in de po-lice record dem find supm.

Highly unlikely. I did it for 2 summers while attending university. I didn't have that many flights to the USA. Only Europe, Canada, Caribbean, USA (New York & Chicago Only).
