Angela Corey got a black woman convicted and sentenced to a 20 year sentence for firing warning shots during a domestic dispute: link. Oddly, the judge didn't allow the SYG defense in this case.

Absolutely right Blackstar. Being Black means that you are never given the benefit of the doubt. People assume the worst. Couple of days ago I kept stressing to the mechanic that I needed to get my emissions test done and license plate sticker before my temporary expired. He said "Don't worry, the police won't bother you." I thought "That's if you're White." I ran into white folks in line with stickers that had expired from June and no one had stopped them. One year, I had my July sticker on thinking I had until the end of the month. I got stopped the day after my birthday and given a ticket. This is a small example but I'm sure you get my drift.
We cannot expect to be given the benefit of the doubt or treated fairly and we certainly can't expect justice. For those who think it's any different in Canada, think again.
