Based on what you are saying, a couple of the most bad mind ones pon yah have tried to turn this into a personal attack rather than a discussion of some very real issues. I am not surprised. That is why I have had them on permanent ignore for a long time. If anyone else had raised these issues, they would be singing from a different song sheet. We all know this.

Ultimately, it's Xavier's call. My point is that boardites should not be trying to make mischief by sending the story out in the first place. What a cowardly approach if because someone cannot win an argument by reasoning they are going to try and bully and intimidate someone by trying to encroach on their privacy or stir up trouble by dragging people into a discussion.

If there is a news story and there is benefit to the person being invited to discuss it, then it should be open. They should come on as a guest and the thread should be started making it clear that this is a dialogue with the individual. This has been done openly and honestly in the past...not this sneak round behind back, suss-suss, stir up trouble, carry go bring come bizniz.

That is why I am suggesting that dialogue like that should be cleared through the admins. Particularly when it is a sensitive story involving someone who was attacked or killed this has to be handled carefully.

If, for example, I were in the news (which I am, regularly, but none of unno bother to read the proper newspapers to find it, so unno don't notice it) and smaddy on J'com wanted to discuss it, and things got nasty, I would hope that smaddy would say sintin like, "Hey, Steph, did you know that you're <whatever issue> is being discussed here: <provide a hotlink to the thread here>? Did you care to come there and respond?"

It's not a matter of why a non-J'commer might be invited here to a thread, nor an issue of who (Xavier or any regular Boardite) does the inviting... that's set by law, actually. It's an issue of the fact that some people prefer to try to do their dirty work behind a mask and don't want to be outed while doing it.

That is a possibility if someone's names is called for sure. However, if someone's name isn't called in the tweet (the title of the discussion). It is highly unlikely that someone is going to just randomly stumble on discussions. In the second example for sure a boardite wrote to the person and came on here and announced it. I posted the announcement a couple of pages back. In the first case, I suspect that this is what happened. too.

Interesting. I hadn't even thought about twitter, since I haven't used my twitter account for... years, now.

But this underscores what I have been saying all damned day - that once something is put out there on the public/open Internet, it is out there forever. You cannot delete it from the 'Net. Tropi deleting her comments this morning was laughable and ridiculous, because they are all already out there in cache... I have them on screen captures... some were quoted... perhaps even requoted... and the more a sintin is put out there on the 'Net in any image or text form, the higher on search engine searches it shows up. There's a lot of Tropi's posts, a whole lot... and they're out there forever, not deletable. (This is a too simple explanation, but I'm sure that no one w=really wants a lecture on SEO stuff. dwl)
