Police report progress in locating missing priest

Police investigators are this evening reporting that they have made significant progress in the search for retired Roman Catholic Priest Father Charles Brown.

However, head of the Criminal Investigations Branch (CIB) Assistant Commissioner Devon Watkis says no details can be provided at this time.

The 71-year-old Brown has been reported missing since Wednesday evening when he attended a meeting at a church in Seaview Gardens.

Concerns for his safety mounted yesterday following police reports that his vehicle was found in the Riverton City area late Thursday night.

Vicar of administration in the Archdiocese of Kingston, Father Donald Chambers says news of Father Brown’s disappearance has left his relatives distraught.

Thanks everyone for your prayers. Just got an online message from a relative that a body has been found near the car (bushes)..they believe it is him but another relative has gone to positively ID the body. awaiting details.

KINGSTON, Jamaica — A body believed to be that of missing priest Charles Brown was found in the Plantation Heights area of St Andrew Monday afternoon
Police say they have not yet confirmed that the body is that of the priest but all indications point to that likelihood.

i, like everyone else was praying for a different outcome.
may God grant you and your family strength to deal with the days ahead and peaceti know he is resting with God.

i used to live in Plantation Heights... Red Hills... Occasionally walking around it used to cross my mind that it was the perfect place for an ambush or somebody to hide dark deeds... Lots of bush and little lighting. Don't know if more houses have been built in that area now but in my day there were only a few.
of course in those days Jamaica was very different to what it is now
