The officer who shot 18-year-old Sammy Yatim is Const. James Forcillo, a police source told the Star. The Toronto Police and Special Investigations Unit have not publicly identified the officer in the wake of the shooting early Saturday morning aboard a streetcar on Dundas St. W. The SIU investigates all incidents involving police where there is a death or serious injury.
Toronto Police Association president Mike McCormack earlier said the officer involved was a uniformed constable in 14 Division who has been on the force for six years.
McCormack would not confirm the officer’s identity, saying only that his family is “devastated.”
When asked if the constable was devastated by the turn of events, a colleague at 14 Division said: “That’s an understatement.”

“Like any officer involved in a loss of life incident, this officer is devastated,” defence lawyer Peter Brauti said Tuesday. “All we can do at this point is wait for the investigation into the matter to conclude. It is important that people not rush to judgment in this matter.”
Brauti said his client has not yet been interviewed by the SIU. Brauti is still reviewing the information provided to him before advising his client whether he should exercise his right to remain silent.
According to the provincial disclosure of public salaries, better known as the “Sunshine List,” Forcillo was paid $106,800 in 2012.
Forcillo has been suspended with pay, the Toronto Police confirmed Monday.
By provincial law, all Ontario officers under suspended receive pay.

Cop charged with second degree murder!

Totally shocked! This never happens!
Even when the police get caught doing their dirty deeds on video, this never happens.
Public outcry seems to have worked this time.
.................................
Would an arrest have happened if the public did not speak up soh?
Would an arrest have happened if the kid was black?
Would the arrest have happened if it was not caught on video?

Remember a few years ago, there was a Asian guy on a bus in Toronto. He was the only one in the vehicle and he had a hammer, he had a history of mental illness, he was a threat to no one but himself but the police saw fit to shoot him dead too. I'm sure that case set a precedent and since the cop that shot that man got away with murder, so will the cop that murdered this young man.

8 of the 9 shots fired hit their target. Then the police still felt it necessary to taser the poor S.O.B..
