Since we are discussing privacy and there has been some wailing and gnashing of teeth about the use of the "Notify" button when one feels that content is inappropriate, I thought I would throw this open for discussion.

The purpose is for moderators to have a look at the content and make an impartial decision about whether or not the content stays or goes. The notify button on Ja.com is to inform moderators of:
I myself have used this function but since I found out that confidentiality was CLEARLY not being respected, I have rarely used it in the past 8 - 9 years.
So my questions are:
- Is there any thing wrong with discussion boards and forums having confidential notify buttons or functionality?
- Is there anything wrong with members using it to flag content that they find inappropriate?
- Why have some moderators not respected confidentiality?
- To ensure confidentiality, should the contents from notify only go to Xavier and maybe one or two more moderators or admins who has over time proven that they respect confidentiality?- Should Ja.com remove this function altogether since there have been breaches of confidentiality and some members...okay one...are still whining and bawling because moderators were notified about some of their posts 8 or 9 years ago?
