The law passed 436-0 on Tuesday, with just one deputy abstaining from voting on the bill, which bans the spreading of "propaganda of non-traditional sexual relations" among minors.
The law in effect makes it illegal to equate straight and gay relationships, as well as the distribution of material on gay rights. It introduces fines for individuals and media groups found guilty of breaking the law, as well as special fines for foreigners.
This will never happen. Jamaica is too dependent on tourism and facing immense international pressure on both the tourism and music industries. Portia is committed to removing the buggery laws.
I have never weighed in on this. I don't think people should be jailed for being homosexual unless we are also going to also jail people for fornicating (like in UAE).
Definitely, gay marriage should not be legal but employers should not be permitted to refuse to hire or promote gay men and women. The only exception should be religious organizations and small private businesses (e.g. 20 employees or fewer).
In Canada I feel things have gone too far. A gay couple has the same rights as a heterosexual couple (e.g. the gay spouse can get employee benefits). Also, if anyone expresses their views and they are not supportive of gay marriage, etc. they are censored. Dr. Laura was first censored whenever she did a show about homosexuality and then she was booted off radio in Canada. Is she still on the radio in the USA? I used to LOVE her show. I wonder if I can listen to it from Canada or if it would be blocked.
Yup she is on line but you have to pay to access archives:
