BOLT CHOOSES 100M, TAMGHO ADDED TO BRUSSELS LINE-UP – IAAF DIAMOND LEAGUE

Usain Bolt, one of the headline athletes at the Belgacom Memorial Van Damme on Friday (6), has now has decided to contest the 100m in Brussels at the final IAAF Diamond League meeting of 2013.
Bolt, winner of six Olympic gold medals and eight World Championships gold medals, said earlier in the year that he would make his decision of which distance to race in Brussels after competing in Moscow and Zurich.
His choice to run the 100m means he will renew his rivalry with Justin Gatlin over the distance, as the World Championships gold and silver medal winners will clash once more. The pair raced in Zurich last week with Bolt getting the verdict, 9.90 to 9.96.
Brussels will be their fourth head-to-head of the year with their 2013 record currently at 2-1 in the Jamaican’s favour.
Another world-class athlete signed up for Friday’s event is World Triple Jump champion Teddy Tamgho.
The French jumper was a dominant winner at the World Championships and produced one of the best performances of the championships with his 18.04m leap on his final attempt.
With his massive jump he became the third longest jumper of all time and the first athlete since 1996 to surpass 18 metres.
The Belgacom Memorial Van Damme will be his first Triple Jump competition since his Moscow victory, so it will be interesting to see how far he can go.
