Name Dropping Alert
When I was at the hairdresser this week, the gay hairdresser styled my hair. We had a very interesting discussion that I thought my be interesting to explore here.
There was a time in Jamaica when one would be fined if they ripped cloth in public. I am not sure if the law every changed but this type of coarse behaviour has been spreading and no one gets fined anymore.
Now it is bad enough when a man curses Jamaican bad words. I was
when Peter Tosh came out with his song and with the cloth he would rip in some interviews. When a woman curses Jamaican bad words it is particularly coarse and
ing.
The first time I came across it I was helping Braddie backstage at a show where Marcia Griffiths was performing. (He was the MC.) This woman came and wanted to come backstage. When the stage manager told her she couldn't come backstage. She became very loud, insisting that she was a friend of Marcia, demanding to be allowed to see her, and ripping nuff cloth. I was...
and I nearly...

I didn't see it but I head that once the show started, she pushed her way to the front, name dropping and showing off that she knew Marcia and ripping more cloth.
BTW, Yellowman was on the same show. He did not curse any bad words backstage. He was very polite.
Do you agree that when a woman uses Jamaican bad words it sounds so much worse that when a man does it?
Do you think that fines for the use of such vulgar language should be brought back?
Disclaimer: Sorry for the name dropping....it would have been impossible to tell this story without it.
