I tried to find the person that actually made this statement. I could not find this quote linked to any one person. I did not try any of the other supposed quotes. If it's a quote, is it not supposed to be from an actual source, a person? Just curious, since there are dates associated with said quotes.

What about Obama? Notice how the debt accelerated during Bush's last two budget years. Obama's debt is a continuation of that trend and neither Bush nor Obama are directly responsible for that acceleration. It happened because of the recession. Bush set the all-time record by increasing the debt by $1.1 trillion in 100 days between July 30 and Nov 9, 2008—but that had little to do with his choices.Recessions cut tax revenues—in this case, dramatically. That accounts for nearly half of the deficit. So blaming Obama for the full deficit is like blaming him for not raising the tax rate to keep tax revenues up. Most of the increased spending is automatic increases in unemployment benefits, food stamps, and social security payments for early retirement. Very little of it is from stimulus spending, and that's over.

The reality in the U.S.A. among MANY is that as long as you and your family have access to health care then damn everyone else, why should I have to pay for someone else's medical needs? Just leave me alone to enjoy my money.

As imperfect as the Canadian system is, at least MANY people up here do not mind paying higher taxes to assure that ALL citizens have access to quality healthcare because that is the society we want to live in. Basic quality health care is a HUMAN RIGHT not just a luxury for some.

Many Americans (mostly upper middle class and the wealthy) just cannot wrap their head around that way of thinking.

Yes, that's correct, and thanks for using facts. No he is not directly responsible, but he is directly responsible for lowering the debt and balancing the budget. That's his job. That's what he signed on for. He took the job knowing what he was responsible for, just like any CEO. And he promised to cut the deficit in half in his first term. Why make a promise that you can't keep?

Why shouldn't we hold politicians to their promises?

Obama came in with a budget in place that called for spending to increase by hundreds of billions of dollars.
He did not try to curb spending. He tried to increase it, but congress stopped him. This is also a fact that you can check. He was prevented from spending more money because of the Republicans in congress.

In other words, he is a bald face liar. He lied to the American public.

OK I know that you will roll your eyes at this but here goes anyway.

President Obama was making these promises while campaigning for president in 2008 correct? He was elected President just as the manure hit the fan. If the world had not seen the greatest economic downturn since the great depression (one which we are still feeling the effects of to this very day) could he have made a huge dent in the deficit? Maybe, maybe not, we will never know.

I can promise Ms. My Looh I will take her out shopping at the mall after work, but if my car breaks down, and I break my promise then what. I am a "bold face liar' in your books?

That's correct. I don't want to be responsible for the shiftless, the lazy and the irresponsible. Even affordable health care means that EVERYONE MUST PAY. There are to many people that live off the taxpayer. And they make that a way of life.

No it's not a human right. That's nothing more than liberal drivel. Saying it's a human right sounds all "cuddly, warm and cute", but the reality is that HEALTH CARE IS EXPENSIVE and it cost money not unlike any service that is provided.
