Twelve year old tourist sexually assaulted at Hanover resort

Officials from the British High Commission are reportedly looking into allegations, that a twelve year old British National was sexually assaulted last Thursday, while on vacation at a resort in the western parish of Hanover.
According to information reaching RJR News, it’s alleged that a male member of staff at the resort entered the female restroom and assaulted the child.
A report was made to the police and the accused was arrested and charged. He was remanded when he appeared in court on Friday.
A source told RJR News, that officials from the British High Commission visited the resort and met with the girl’s family. The family has since left the island.

Police are trying to find a woman who was abducted from Burke Road, Spanish Town, St Catherine, on October 30, taken into cane fields close to the Mandela Highway and raped.

Deputy Superintendent of Police, Percival Buddan, of the St Catherine South police, told our news team that they were told of the act by another woman, who was raped and released by the same suspects the same day.

"We don't know if she is dead or alive," the top cop said.

According to the police, on the day, two women were awaiting transportation on Burke Road when a Toyota motor car drove up pretending to be a taxi.

Both women entered the car which had two men inside, including the driver. While aboard, both women became suspicious after the men began acting suspiciously.

Some time in the journey, sexual advances were made towards the women. One woman complied out of fear for her life, but the other woman fought back much to the disapproval of the men.

The driver then drove on to the Central Village main road and diverted into nearby cane fields.

A second vehicle drove to the location with a third man aboard, who was armed with a gun. Both women were then raped.

Following the sexual assault, they were told to return to the car which drove into Spanish Town. The woman who did not resist was released while the men drove away with the other woman.

While the released woman went to the cops and made a report, the lawmen have not heard anything from the other woman since the incident.

Buddan explained that they are following leads into solving the case, however, it has been made difficult because they have not been able to identify the missing woman. The other woman has been assisting investigators.

"These types of crimes are not common but they are of great concern to us. We regard them as failed murders. The weapon of choice seems to be the gun. I believe we are close to catching our targets," Buddan said.
