That is not thread hijacking. That is avoiding thread jacking by starting a discussion about another topic to AVOID hijacking the current discussion.

If it is a brand new topic...sure. But if an existing discussion is going in a new direction not relevant to the current discussion then, yes it is best to start a new topic and re-direct people. That is what the supposedly old rules said. (First me hearing bout old rules and new rules. )

If you wish to start a discussion on a new topic start a new thread please.

What is the point of answering the person in the current discussion and taking it even further off track? Without re-directing people, how would they know where you have answered their question?

Right now it's like the sheriff of a ghost town giving himself a ticket when he ran the red light and complaining to himself how it wasn't like that it the good old days.

Discussions evolve but there is a difference between evolution of a discussion and persistently and deliberately going into discussions and hijacking them, taking them off track and turning every discussion into a personal attack on the topic starter.

Reminders should be posted. As a member I do post reminders when someone tries to hijack a discussion. Moderators should be backing that up not .

If the member doesn't listen, the comments that are hijacking the discussion should be deleted. That would put a stop to it.

I have a discussion now that someone is intent on derailing. I simply put them on ignore but moderators have come in and joined in the instead of intervening. How immature.

At the very minimum, moderators should lead by example.

Also, if there is a change in the rules, this should be announced by Xavier to all members and the old rules should be deleted and a link posted to the new rules.
