Never thought of that but you are right I don't want anything heavier than the kindle (which is lighter than the others) to use as a book

I do most of my reading in bed

I think iphone users who then move to kindle have an 'adjustment' period because we are expecting touch. Blackberry users should be very comfy with the kindle

I started reading my book and aside from the grayscale ting , it is not too bad and a helluva lot lighter than an ipad.

the downside I noticed with the cover with light is that it tends to glow further than the book

i still think as new technology goes . . . the kindle is dull - it does an adequate job of presenting a book for reading - but dang the books are just as expensive in some instances more

these are first impressions - i may be addicted to it in a few days - it did pass the time at the barber shop with my son today - i didn't have to stare at the hot flesh in there

I know it so different than the mac devices hard to make the adjustment. the kids already putting dibs on their books.. but I am reading 2 books now so go between paper & kindle.

i have a mac so cant request ipad

have you seen the kindle commercials?

i didn't want an ipadkindle

but in this day and age who doesn't use color - i don't even recognize the books they are recommending to me

i knew the kindle wasn't color but when i got it - i missed color - lol

haven't figured out how to get to the internet yet - don't even know if i can - but if i do - i probably won't recognize it - in black and white - lol

as for reading - the books download quickly - been reading samples - to get the hang of it - kindle format books cost the same amount - okay

during the day - the gray format was fine - at night - doubtful

it does fit in my purse so that's good - between the kindle and my iPhone - i'm almost ready for the deserted island - almost . . .

i probably won't send it back - but i did expect a little more - PIZAZZ - maybe they can figure out how to emit new book smell from it - oh

new book smell comes from buying kindle covers in every color

Seveen, yuh did ask question bout int'l kindle use before.

I used it in Ja over the weekend and it worked fine.

Once I turned on the wifi, I got a msg that details the fees (if any) i would have to pay for certain uses...

For free:
You can surf the net withh wifi, browse the kindle store, get to your archived items.

If you buy and download a book/magazine it'll cost. Best bet is to make sure you have what you need to read before you go and if you subscribe to daily/weekly newspapers or mags, mek sure yuh tun it off or no tun on yuh wifi or whatever or u will get charged.

BUT - were

the fees for WiFi or 3G?

if i'm on a WiFi network I don't see why I have to pay to have something downloaded but if i'm on 3G (using a jamaican or other international cell site) i can understand the charges

also today i sync'd a book to my iphone - now the iphone screen is tiny but - the book cover displays in color and i can turn the pages with my finger

now kindle needs an app for that

The fees were for 3G

If you receive ur subscriptions via 3G, then there's a weekly fe eof 4.99
if you receive personal docs via 3G, it's 0.99 per megabyte.

You can receive books, single periodical issues, archived items, browse kindle store or use the experimental web via 3G for free...
