As an card carry atheist I am tempted at times to write a spify comment in here but as Faithful (who was my wife in another life!) is in here I have not...This is her expresion of her pragmatic faith

A small comment:::: I was always struck that on 1st of August both in 1834 and 1838 our ancestors stayed up and worship.. and this gave them comfort. Life is a struggle and where we get comfort should be respected.. But yesterday it was clear as those Chilian miners their catholic faith paid a part in their survival...That and the Elvis singing...

I do survival training every couple years and it is an aspect that is discussed.. postive attitude, morale, organisation, routine, group empathy, pragmatism The fact that one has faith and comfort somewhere may to atheists seem pointless but it is comfort and it gives a small edge.. I had ancestors who were catholic.. my mother is a one.. so all the insults of catholic faith is an insult to them...I know I was blessed by the last pope and I took it as a blessings on the beleif of my ancestors..

That faith paid a role..

No disrespect Sir, but your atheist card (and all the privileges and perks that go with it) are in jeopardy. Atheists are not permitted to have past lives (please read the Rules on the back of your card!).

Yuh know Wallie, this your comment is more than a small comment...fetch diss...I have been asking Mr. Faithfull to read this thread for the longest and give me his comments, but he is too busy to even look this way....annihoo, your comments here re the value of their faith and th among them, eir atitude is similar or almost to what I was thinking when I heard that &quot;a shrine was built,&quot; and faith came into play.

What did cross my mind also is whether there were any unbelievers or anyone who was vexxed at God for their crisis, who participated in the &quot;worship&quot;...

I think I stated it somewhere here before about a very noted journalist who was a professed atheist,[name witheld out of respect] and on his death bed confessed not only belief in a deity, but Jesus the Christ...
