Time To Re-Do the Bathroom

Hi creative people.

This is blank slate Pepper looking for advice. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img]

I HATE MY SON'S BATHROOM [img]/forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif[/img] [img]/forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif[/img]

It's time to remodel. I'll post pictures over the weekend. We are going to paint, add tiles, new tub, new toilet, and hopefully a new sink and cabinet. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/70384-praying.gif[/img] But that depends on the budget.

First thing is the tub area. My son has one of those modular walls in the tub area. See the picture below, I tiefed it from QK's This Old House Thread.



That fiberglass or whatever it is has to go, and be replaced with tiles. My son's bathroom is also the guest bathroom, so the new decore can be manly, but still guest friendly.

I think we need to select tiles, and then pick a paint color, and paint before we have the tiles installed. Am I thinking right? I am clueless when it comes to these things and will be relying on you 'experts' for advice.

what kinda tiles are you thinking about for the floor
what kinda tiles are you thinking about for the wall?

I was thinking a dark gray on the floor with a lighter gray on the walls. Paint color would be within the family with a white trim along with accented highlights (eg the towels and accoutrements in a bold color (eg red))

Kia...we did the grey tiles thingy..im regreating it now..i wish we had gone black...looks so rich.

Of course the big man has to approve. Now would black tiles in the shower keep water stains? Remember the primary user is a teenage boy. He is responsible for cleaning his bathroom, and he only remembers to do it when I remind him. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif[/img]

yes the water stains in the shower are one down side....so maybe go wid di grey in the shower den but black on the floor (and walls if you doin that)

I don't know about tiling the entire bathroom. That might be overpowering. When I post the pics, I see what you guys think.

I would say its 'average' sized. It's not tiny, but not very big either. I would say maybe three people could stand shoulder-to-shoulder in the open area comfortably.

The cabinet is oak. It matches with the current decor, so maybe I better make sure a new one fits in the budget.

oh boy! come wid ie, Peppa. Mi sick and tyad a my bathroom, too. want a new tub but mi fraida di expense. woulda try do it miself but mi ting dis is one for professionals.
