Honestly though, you made me feel better about trying my project because yours looks really really nice.

My kitchen is white as well (I LOVE white kitchens ) but I hate the builder counter laminate counter top that is installed. I considered doing granite since my kitchen isnt very big and the cost wouldnt be more than 3K but I honestly dislike most granite. I know most ppl like it but I hate the colors and patterns within most slabs I have seen.

I was thinking of doing a wood type counter top to match the cherry wood floors, so you pix is making me re-visit the idea because I like the look

nylah since your kitchen is small

go to they granite yard and ask if they have any remnants (left over pieces from what they cut for other people's order)

the remnant pieces are cheaper and you just might see a particular color/vein that catches your eye, and did i say cheaper

actually nylah why dont you do white marble for the counter tops i love the way it looks

it is a bit delicate but sooooo worth it

I did price out the cost for Carrera (sp?) marble (white marble with black/grey veins running thru it). My appliances are black so I have a color anchor already in the kitchen os I can get away with a light colored counter top.

But... I almost choked on the price even for my small kitchen That stuff is dear but is so beautiful to look at

I dont plan to re-do the kitchen til the summer time, so I can maybe go check out the granite yards for slabs like you suggested.

I like either a black granite with silvery streaks (saw it on HGTV) or the wooden top like in Q.K. pictures.

I gotta say I am really lovin the finish on the wooden counter top. It was so easy to apply and is really easy to clean up. It's nicely sealed... water beads up and wipes right off.
I do use coasters &amp; trivets whan prepping &amp; cooking though.

I didn't even have to work that hard to sand down the top. Once over with a coarse paper then once over with a fine grit.

I never did put the second coat on. If it was totally stripped I may have needed 2.

Next project.... the cupboard.
