I dont feel so bad. 
Honestly though, you made me feel better about trying my project because yours looks really really nice.
My kitchen is white as well (I LOVE white kitchens
) but I hate the builder counter laminate counter top that is installed. I considered doing granite since my kitchen isnt very big and the cost wouldnt be more than 3K but I honestly dislike most granite. I know most ppl like it but I hate the colors and patterns within most slabs I have seen.
I was thinking of doing a wood type counter top to match the cherry wood floors, so you pix is making me re-visit the idea because I like the look

why dont you do white marble for the counter tops
i love the way it looks
That stuff is dear but is so beautiful to look at
