Someone I know had a good experience as a parent with Norcross HUman Services Center Pre-K/ Headstart program-Ninth District-if you wanna check them out. I have not had that expreience in that capacity, so I cannot personally vouch for them.
Not sure if you reside within that vicinity or not. I think you may be able to locate them from the link provided...

Thanks Silent River! I am going to try that link and also look into that Ninth District info because I am in Norcross. I don't want to move out of Gwinnett just to find a good program and be in the local district of it because Gwinnett has the best school district and I want Kimmy to go to school in Gwinnett when she's older.

Hello Everybody. Haven't been on the board for a while. Kimmy is doing good. Still growing and changing as they do. She's doing well in school. Learning a little Spanish thanks to a daily dose of Dora and Diego and Mommy. We learn words and then say the Spanish version. She absorbs a lot.

But, we bounce from being the school bully beating up boys and girls, to the school Diva. One day she hits the boys, the next day it's the girls. Then the next day she's too special to talk to anyone and announces &quot;You are not my friend and stop looking at me&quot;. Father in Heaven!

Altogether, it's been an interesting few months. We still have problems with her ears. If we go to a place that has an automatic toilet flush, she grabs her ears and screams it's too loud! She cringes at horns honking or loud music, but she stands right in front of the television saying she cannot hear it. I am so concerned. We got some Naxonex a few months ago but we are going Thursday to an ENT for a check up. She may have to end of getting tubes in her ears. Hopefully she'll be fine.

Just a little update on MsKimmy. Lil tyke is almost half my height it seems. We are so amazed at how tall she's gotten in the last 2-3 months. Something in the water....

it has been a while msg2s. Glad to hear Kimmy is growing like a weed. yes you definitely need to check into the ENT. Ear tubes are not a big deal procedurally and it will help her feel more comfortable too

Yeah, I feel a better about the tubes. I was not familiar with that process at all and recently found out they actually dissolve on their own. That was one of my concerns. I thought they would have to be removed. I want to avoid having her adenoids removed at all cost.

Ironically, I grew up hearing challenged (still is truth be told) and I know how it feels to have to continually ask people to repeat themselves because you just can't hear them clearly. Kimmy does that to me and I cringe. We use eardrops more often than an average 3 year old should.

But the worse part is when I had to get a Doctor's letter saying she can't go outside when it is real cold and windy and her ears are hurting. People take the law and twist it something terrible. Georgia law states kids have to go outside twice a day even in the winter. Even so, any childcare provider in their right minds know that a child with an earache does not need to be in the wind! I dug up a pair of earmuffs for her to wear even if her ears are not hurting. I miss the days of being a stay at home Mom!

basically it can be an over sensitivity to touch and sound

abu has touch and sound issues - he's much better now

he was easily distracted at school by sounds - could hear a pin drop one minute and not hear the teacher talking the next minute

also touch issues - had to cut the tags out of his clothes and getting a haircut was torture

for awhile at school he wore a headset to muffle sounds so he could concentrate better

the touch issues also determined what foods he like - some textures were horrible to him - he never liked fries - even McDonald's, and macaroni is still not a favorite

he seems to have grown out of most of these - although getting a haircut is still an agony to him - but a piece of chewing gum helps him make it through that

Wow! I will definitely ask him about that. Kimmy does cringe at certain sounds and then other sounds she can tolerate or barely can hear. Like standing in front of the television when the volume is up loud is okay, but flushing the toilet sends her screaming holding her ears. I'm glad we have this appointment coming on Thursday morning.

Sounds like she is having trouble with pitch (as opposed to volume)...

My son had trouble with ear &amp; throat infections for a long time - it's hard to see them so uncomfortable. Once he had his tonsils and adenoids removed, he really has not been sick since, other than an occasional sniffle. Let us know how it goes with the ENT.

We went to the Doctor today and yes she has to have the tubes in her ear. OMG! I nearly fainted when he described the process. Here I am thinking it's a <span style="color: #FF0000">simple </span>process of inserting some tiny tube in her ear using the light and some kind of guide and done. I was also told by somebody that the tubes &quot;dissolve&quot; on their own. Not so! My baby has to have SURGERY! &quot;Ain't nobody told me nuttin bout no SURGERY!

Oh dear Lord. Send help from above. I know she needs this procedure but I don't think I can make it through. They have to put my baby to sleep and cut a hole in her ear, put in some tubes and then they come out some 3 months to a year later?? How??? The explanation I got was so not clear because the Doctor had a hearing problem. Air pushes them through or something. I'm confused even more. Then after the tubes are inserted she can't get water in her ears or she will get ear infections. What to do? This is a child who is not fond of getting her hair washed and ends up with water in her ears every time with her struggling.

Be that as it may, I have my work cut out. We are scheduled for preop in a week or so and surgery on the 23rd. I was all set to take a week off from work but he says she can go back to Daycare the next day. What about me?? I needed that week for me and my nerves!

Ironically, I was mentioning to Kimmy's teacher about her impending <span style="font-style: italic">procedure</span> and she told me that a pair of twins in the place had the same thing and their mom regrets she did it because they are worse. Now they have ear infections all the time and she regrets that she consented to it. I did not talk to her personally so I don't know if they had them chronically before or what. The Doctor said stats show a 90% of children are fine after the tubes are inserted.

I am hopeful that Kimmy will be in that 90 percentile. I really don't want to go thru this but I don't want to jeopardize Kimmy's hearing and see her keep suffering with ear pains. I am just praying that everything will be fine and she will be much better when this is over and done.
