Thank you Seveen. Actually it is about 1 1/2 weeks to go. I can't wait. I know it will be a wonderful happy start of the new year for us. Especially when I sign the dotted line making her mine for all times. Speaking of Kimmy, the poor darling has the pink eye. [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/crybaby.gif[/img] They called me from Daycare yesterday that her eye was pinkish and glassy looking. I immediately left work and got her. Her Dr. called in a prescription and the Pharmacist could not understand the message and refused to fill anything else. We finally got the Dr. via an emergency page after hours and got some drops. Poor child. Thank God she is still running and jumping and playing and even was told to go back to Daycare today. She has a bellyache though. She'll be fine. [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/70409-waytogo.gif[/img]

I can't believe the time has finally gotten this close. I thought December would never come. So far, I have not gotten a call that little missy has asked for another visit. At this point, it is quite pointless and a waste of time in my opinion. I just want to get through this week with no drama or episodes to aggravate us. Well Seveen, we tried to make it dramaless but we had a little bit. Kimmy threw up and coughed some on Wednesday. The day I had an all day training session. People came down from PA to train a special group of us for our new assignments. There were no retakes! The Daycare said she had to go home and I called my back ups. My Agency. Left messages after 1. I reached my DFCS case worker who was going to court for us and said she would pick Kimmy up and drop her by the Agency where they were supposed to get a parent to watch her until 7.

Well, she did. The agency Super called and said I needed to come for her because they are not babysitters. [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/eek2.gif[/img] I explained that I could not leave and they were supposed to step in when I could not. She told me that their foster parents always leave work when their kids are sick. Making me sound like my job was more important. Here she is in her comfy office, doing nothing and wanting to keep it that way. I told her I would leave when Q&A started. Then she leaves a message that Kimmy has to be picked up by 6 because she can't be roaming the office unsupervised. As if she and the others were not there. Apparently, there are no parents in my area and the ones that are were working too.

I left work at 5:30 praying all the way there not to say anything if I could not say anything nice. She comes down all smiles. Not I! I told her I am not going to pretend that I am not angry. "Oh, I can see it". Uh, yeah! I said "We foster parents change our entire lives. We alter our whole structure, jobs, homes, what we do, etc, for these children, without pay and do not complain. You could not change your schedule for 3 hours and you get a paycheck. You have a free check!" She could not say a word. But I told her I will deal with it. DFCS says they pay them to step in and this woman is telling me she can't keep her until I get off work. If I don't get trained to do my new job, I won't have a job! I can't wait to be done with them.

Anyhow, Kimmy is medicated. She has ear infections and a cold. She's much better. She was actually better the day they put her out of Daycare. Her Teacher said she did not have to leave, but apparently there is a "law" that if a child throws up and coughs,they have to leave. I can understand the child that had a virus leaving. Kimmy is preasthmatic and with the cold, she gagged in her sleep and gagging causes even adults to vomit if they have a cold. Her Dr. says she has a lot of mucous in her throat and that caused the gagging/vomiting. She was not sick. She was running around and happy when I stopped to check on her on my lunch. Thank God she's getting better and has the whole weekend to spend at home with her favorite Mommy! [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/70459-hugs.gif[/img]

btw do you give kimmy mik products? If she is asthmatic & has mucous issues, it is likely due to milk. milk does produce mucous.

That is true Kia. When she was first diagnosed as pre-ashtmatic, her Dr. limited her milk consumption to 1 cup a day. She's fine with that. But it's when she gets a cold that her milk is cut off. I have not given her a cup of milk, but she's gotten up 2 mornings demanding cereal and banana for breakfast. Otherwise, she won't eat. So of course, I have given in. [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/70361-embarassed.gif[/img] But she has not vomited again so I feel good about that.

Absolutely, Monday is the big day! [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/yahoo.gif[/img] I talked to DFCS yesterday and heard that our former case manager came into the Office to go over the case and she will be there to testify. She's the one that got the ball rolling after the first one we had was fired for doing nothing. They also found the first case manager that none of us knew about. I guess he was there when Kimmy was born. He will be there to testify. I am so thrilled. I am being told that I won't have to testify. Everything is looking good for us. I am still praying that we get the signature that we need. Then I can start the adoption home conversion and 30 days from Monday, we can file for adoption. Home free!!! It has all been worth it for me. I am glad I have you all to share this with. It's been a therapy for me to write about this in this thread. Thanks for listening, praying and sharing. Yes, and what a way to bring in the New Year. Brand new year, brand new relation, brand new name for Kimmy. After helping raise other people's kids and seeing them grow up and go on, I can finally say I raised one that belongs to me and will always come back to me. I was wanting to add a boyGoody to the mix through fostering to adopt, but after this experience, I am going AI if necessary! [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/helpsmilie.gif[/img] Can't take the next drama. I will take the stretch marks, 9 months of ups and downs, can't see my feet where'd they go, can't sleep on this side, and 48 hours of labor, than to go thru this again. I think. Well, thank God, we have one hurdle that is over. We got our TPR! It was wonderful. We got there bright and early. Kimmy was the usual door greeter. Everybody had to stop and say how cute she was.

Anyhow, we had my Adoption Case Manager, my Foster Care Case Manager, 2 Foster Care Supervisors, and my former Foster Care Specialist all there who testified for us. Our Attorney was just great. They brought out info that I did not even know about. Like Mom ran away right after Kimmy was born and did not reappear until 6 months later only to run again within 30 days. She has not seen Kimmy more than 2-3 months of her life and she is 30 months. [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/eek2.gif[/img]

Apparently, word is she had a girl and wanted Kimmy to see her baby sister, but of course, she did not show up for the visit. She was made aware of today's court hearing and she still did not show. Her Attorney tried to show that she was under threat by everyone that if she came in for a visit, she would be taken back into care. But the Judge, who spent time with Kimmy before the hearing and gave her another book, was totally convinced that she and the phanthom father abandoned Kimmy and left her deprived of a stable home. She said Kimmy is healthy and well with me, calls me Mommy and needs to remain with me to avoid emotional, mental and psychological damage.

There was a riot in the waiting area where everybody came out to congratulate and hug me. This was a good day for us. We can move forward now. We start the adoption conversion soon and then in 30 days we can file for the adoption and I hope we get one of the 2 Attorney's who finalize them within 7 days.

Termination of Parental Rights (TPR)

We convert my case from foster care to adoption. I go thru a series of meetings with my Agency to fill out important papers, go over what is available for us when we adopt, change case managers, complete adoption packets, etc. I hope it's easier than it sounds.
