Absolutely Bink! I feel like I've been through it. I am just glad that I will get a much better ending than people I have heard of who go through this crap and end up losing the kids after years of having them. Thank God I am one of the fortunate ones. [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/70384-praying.gif[/img] Prayers and best wishes go a long way up, let me tell you.

I know one thing, I better make up my mind soon about what I will change her name to. That seems harder than the dozens of papers that I have to fill out AGAIN and the physical/drug tests I have to take AGAIN. I can't decide do I keep her first name as Kimberly or make it legally Kimmy to differentiate from Mom's name. Or do I keep her first name, make her last name her new middle name and add mine. Do I hyphenate our last names and give her a new middle name. I am stumped with this name business. Hey everybody. I know it's been a long time but I am going to try and get some updated pictures of Kimmy on here. She's gotten a whole lot bigger than the last pictures Seveen posted. Hopefully we can get them out within a week or so. I kind of got bored with the camera for a minute so it's been a few months between pictures. We took some last week but the film has not been spent so when I get them, you will see them. She's growing like a weed. [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif[/img]

We took some snow pictures today. As soon as I can get them to WalMart and get the disk, I will whisk them to Seveen ( [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/70384-praying.gif[/img]) and hopefully she will get them on here for me. I'm going to try to get some from my phone to put on here too. You would be surprised how she's grown from the last pictures she put on here. She had an appointment yesterday and the lady said she is in the above average 95 percentile for her age. Her height has stretched out her weight and she's not so solid anymore. UPDATE: We are moving along pretty fast. I can't believe we are almost there. I had a meeting last Friday where the DFCS case manager presented Kimmy for adoption and me as the prospective adoptive parent. She went through her Child Life History where I learned more of her background. It's amazing that we were born in the same city, same hospital, same month (June) and around the same time of morning. She 1:11am and me 1:40am. We both come from large families. I have 12 siblings and Kimmy's birth Mom has 7 siblings.

Thank God there was no report of any drama for the first 10 months of her life other than abandonment and birth Mom running away with her several times before she was a full 2 months. I had to give them my version of what life has been like for Kimmy and when I was done, we looked at the Child Life History and it was as if I was reading from a script when I spoke. It mirrored what they had. Of course, they get most of it from me but some is also from their observation. An adoption specialist told me she wish she had 20 more of Kimmy.

We had a visit today with a worker who will convert us from Foster Care to Adoption officially and when her report is finished, we sign the papers that will lead us to the Attorney and the Judge. It should not take more than 2-3 weeks more but who knows. They don't work on my time scale. So I am patient. Just so excited we have gotten this far. Then we can close out this chapter.

I was asked what it will do for me to be able to adopt Kimmy. It will complete the both of us. I need a special little angel to love and raise and she needs a Mommy to love and nourish her. I am so happy for the both of us. They are alreay asking if I want to adopt another one and when I want another foster child. I am planning to get a playmate for Kimmy to occupy her when I am busy. She still has emotional attachment and does not function independently like a child her age might. I figure another child will give me breathing space and teach her to share me. Something she refuses to do at this stage.

Like all Mom's though, I am facing Daycare, but in a different way. So far, Daycare has been compliments of the state of Georgia. Now I am going to be facing $500 a month. [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/eek2.gif[/img] It's something new, but anything for MsKimmy. That is their biggest concern for adoptive parents. We get financial assistance because black children are considered "high risk" whether they are healthy or not. They are harder to adopt out. The healthier the child, the lower the assistance. So we are at the bottom of the totem pole. [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif[/img] She's worth every extra penny I have to spend on her. We might have to cut back on the shopping sprees though. [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/crybaby.gif[/img]

I found out today I may likely be getting custody of my great-neice - very quickly as her current guardian (my cousin) is well worn out from trying to deal with her behaviours as well as that of her half-brother for the past four months... she could be home with me in the next week or so [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/crazy.gif[/img] (now I have to deal with explaining <u>some </u>of the story to my mother, whose health is quite bad right now) [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/70384-praying.gif[/img]

Congrats! I sure hope you do get her. That would be a joy to you I am sure. I wish you Mom the best of health though. I'm sorry she's not well.

It seems we are at a standstill. Nobody wants to respond to where we are in the process. I am quite baffled but still holding on. I understand that even though I have been contacting them for 2 weeks for an update, I found out they just sent our paperwork to the state on Monday and I won't find out anything until Friday. More of the same waiting game. As long as we have the TPR in place, I don't mind so much, but gosh. At least someone could let me know what is going on. Patience is my best friend. Hey Lady! I know you are waiting for those pics. I intended to use the rest of the film at Kimmy's Daycare Valentine's day party and forgot to leave the camera. They took the pic on Monday and now I need to get them to the developers. They soon come though.

We are still holding and hanging on. DFCS is ready to sign on the dotted line but the Agency is holding us up. I heard that they are taking their time because of money. I don't know or care. I just want to be done. I need to focus on getting a playmate up in here for MsKimmy before I lose my mind. Got to work on her clingy issues. Hopefully another child in the house will help her to focus on someone other than me. Someone on age with her that she can play and learn with. She does well with children. I just wonder will it backfire. She is also possesive of me. I don't want a child in here and she make it hard for them by banning them from touching me like she does at Daycare. She will share almost anything but her Mommy. Sigh... We will see.

We are getting closer! We have a meeting on next week to sign the official Adoption papers and forms. They will be sent to the Attorney and then we wait for a date to see the Judge to finalize. So we are moving on slowly but surely. Thank God for that. It should all take up to 2 weeks to be done, so they say. I won't hold my breath but I won't complain either. This is the time that I have been waiting almost 2 years for.

Seveen, the pictures are at WalMart and I will pick them up on Thursday and send them to you to post. Can't wait for you all to see how much bigger she has gotten. Nobody hardly believes that she is only 2 1/2. I don't think she's such a big girl but I think her mannerism is what impresses on people that she is older. I'll give you a look see as soon as we get the prints.
