I agree with your friend.

I'm not saying you should go in flipping over desks and breaking out windows, but she does need it made clear that you are not going to have your child mistreated or else.

Also with so many children transferring out of her room each year, she's just about got one foot out the door anyway.; Say what you want about a bully, but just like anybody else, they tend not to want to lose their jobs.

I get what has been said about having to learn about how to deal with difficult people. Still, GirlKia is a child and she should feel protected by her parents and not having to be worried about letting this teacher work out her psycho bs on her.

You and MrKia will of course know best how to handle this situation, but it definitely needs handling.

did you see NBC news last night ? A kid video him teacher bullying him cause even his parents didn't believe him when he told them about it. Mi seh if yuh ever hear di teacher in the class \o/.

Tulip this teacher has 25 years of service - She may be retiring this year but I sense this is her last year one way or another.

Yes I noticed that too... it must have killed the teacher to give a compliment.

I did not see the news report but am not shocked just disappointed.


Many teachers are very good and many are excellent but the ones who are bad well :sigh:

Update: the secret praise changed to public praise within a week. Since then we have had NO behavioral issues at all. Teacher and student have found a happy medium. Grades have gone up. Girlkia deals with the teacher's quirks and moves on

she used to love math but hates it. why? She knows the material being taught and can automatically multiply &amp; divide in her head but teacher requires to show her work and it bores her to do so. She shows the work because the teacher otherwise marks her correct answers wrong!

The textbook that is assigned to them can be used as a resource but students find that their notes have much more concentrated information. If you take a look at the textbook the content is buried within essay formatted ‘magazine’ articles so many students have a hard time understanding and organizing the information in their head. Therefore the notes that we give in class along with any handouts really helps make sense of the material at hand. As far as anything else to help him work up his capability there are plenty of<span style="font-weight: bold"> test prep books</span> that will cover the same topics that we are covering in class. <span style="font-weight: bold">I work out of one that is a test prep for the end of course Biology assessment.</span>



ok I get the textbook does not meet the needs but would it not help the class overall if she shared this information with the students at the beginning of the term? Some of the questions from the test are not in the notes nor study guide- they are in the book (in a little corner with the website and click from there). I agree the text book is not easy to collect the information but if the info was shared at the beginning of the term students would like the subject more and develop confidence in understanding it.
teens at this age and stage in this corner do not know what they need to know about the coursework so therefore do not think they have to make an extra effort to find it.

public school curriculum does that.. I think she should have shown the kids what she uses from the get go. Unless she just teaching dem how to take notes in a factual course

I can see where she is coming from but on the other hand I have to deal with snarky teenager who does not know to even find out what he needs to know. We use multiple websites but him being a very literal person will not think outside the line when it comes to a subject not in his 'interest' category

edited to add: I guess when she assign test pon chapter 4 she means the topics covered in chapter 4..

mi was trying to teach the boy to tek the initiative on his own and contact her to find out what he can do since late october, asked him to do it again, november, december... It is January I am asking for this because he had not done so

these outlines and the regent ones is a life saver, because as I found out in college, not all textbooks are created equally. schaum save me in college

just go ahead and get him the <span style="text-decoration: underline">(insert subject here)</span> study guide/outlines
