This Coupon Crap

I was reading about coupon savings last nite and it really ticked me off.

So, frequently, I see these reports about Wifey going to the supermarket, whipping out her coupon clutch, zipping thru the aisles, shopping ‘til the cart is filled 3 ft high, checking out – and her bill comes up to some fabulously obscene amount of 10 cents!!!

She does cartwheels of joy out the door.

Why’s this not happening to me?

Why aren’t there ever any coupons for the stuff that I need?

Where’s the coupons for meat, apples, milk, turkey bacon, tomatoes, whole wheat flour?

Could it be that coupons are a scam?

yes it is in personal finance

but seriously if you are eating lower on the food chain you are bound to pay more and less coupons are available

Not really trying to find how to use the coupons and such tho.

What I'm saying is, it seems like these savings and coupons are only (or primarily) available for <span style="font-weight: bold">unhealthy and processed foods</span>.

Not to mention, making you think you got savings when really, you only ended up buying something you didn't really, really need ...

Of course it is for processed foods that is how the general food establishments make their money.. lure you in with coupons and lock you in with the taste

maybe with the coupons but if you watch the flyers they usual have meat an veggies on special each week.

i do quite well with coupons.
i use my shopper card/number
i only buy what is on sale and what i have a coupon for...
i stock up on the items that i use quickly/constantly that way i have enough to last until it goes on sale again.

went to grocery wednesday and before the shopper card number and coupons....my bill was: $87.65

then i entered my club number: $39.15

then after coupons: $22.95



i dont stress bout it though...i am sure i make up for it with fresh produce. and with that...we are a member of a co-op.

i must admit that i am brand loyal and i dont do much process/package things. so for instance:

food sales run on a cycle as well as in season....i shop that way.

for instance: in the summer...grilling is popular. so season/spices, grilling things constantly go on sale. that's when you find the coupons. PBJ &amp; Jelly stay on sale while school is in session...I stock up then. Oatmeal, Cream of Wheat rotates during the winter months. If you were into canned soups and such....they are on sale now.

I am not a baker per se, but love Ghiradelli Bitter Chocolate Chips. They stay on sale during the Holidays and then make a quick run again for Valentines day.

St. Patricks Day... watch and you will see nuff Potatoes, celery, carrots, Corned Beef on sale.

Now check the paper during these times....yup, you will see di coupons too.

I went thru the paper on Sunday and online – this is my sometime, usual drill.

Outside of Bounty and toilet paper and some laundry detergent <span style="font-style: italic">(ALREADY, ridiculously overpriced)</span> and I found not 1 coupon I would use in my regular shopping.

But tons were there for Oreos, icecream, Doritos, Coke ...
