I am very proud of women in the Caribbean.
Halle Berry and Rita Marley in de same soup?

I haven't seen any studies re: Caribbean women and self-esteem except for the ones done with Jamaican adolescents. These studies showed a tremendous high degree of discomfort with being Black but tht is a WHOLE other thread. The studies didn't compare the males and females.
Studies with comparing White women and African American women have shown that the White women struggle with body image disatisfaction more than the White women.
The reason I put Halle Berry and Rita Marley together is that they were both in relationships in which they were being disrespected. In one of Hale Berry's relationships, her husband beat her up so badly that she has lost hearing in one ear. I also think that any woman who is going to put up with a man rooskin around with her and embarrassing her in public with it must be having some challenges with self-esteem. Rita is an attractive, bright, HIGHLY gifted, and articulate woman. Cindy was attractive and accomplished and she is articulate. Yet she put up with Bob rooksin around on her with some of her friends. Again, despite the fact that she was gorgeous enough to win an international beauty pageant, something seemed to be amiss when it came to confidence. Both of these women did seem to mature and develop more confidence but that came later in life.
Anyway, that is why I bring up some of these examples. I'll give you another one...Robin Givens. People wondered why she would hook up with someone like Tyson. There was speculation that she was using him to get the publicity as his wife to help her career. Who knows. Bottom line is, she didn't put up with his abuse for very long.
